Design Your Year Part 3: Vision Board Trio

goals planning vision board Dec 12, 2024

"Energy flows where attention goes." – Tony Robbins

Welcome to Part 3 of my Design Your Year series!  In this four-part framework we’re focusing on creating your best year yet. In Part 1, we reviewed and reflected on the past 12 months.  In Part 2, we identified our goals to aim for over the next 12 months.  If you haven’t completed those steps, I encourage you to go back and do them.

Now on to Part 3. If you’re looking for a powerful way to stay focused on your goals throughout the year, creating a vision board is a fantastic tool to help you succeed. A vision board is essentially an inspirational collage of images, words, and symbols that represent what you want to achieve.

I recommend creating three vision boards:

  1. Long-Term Goals: The big dreams you’re working toward.
  2. Short-Term Goals: Achievements you’re aiming for within the next year.
  3. Goals Achieved: A celebration board showcasing your wins—a visual reminder of how far you’ve come!

Why Use a Vision Board?

Here are 10 powerful benefits of using a vision board to transform your dreams into reality:

  1. Clarifies Your Goals
Creating a vision board forces you to clearly define what you want. This helps you prioritize what truly matters and directs your energy toward meaningful goals.
  2. Keeps You Focused
Your vision board serves as a daily visual reminder of your goals, helping you avoid distractions and stay aligned with your aspirations.
  3. Boosts Motivation
Images and affirmations that resonate with your dreams can evoke powerful emotions, inspiring you to take consistent action toward achieving them.
  4. Enhances Visualization
Visualization is a proven success tool. A vision board makes it easy to picture yourself reaching your goals, boosting your confidence and belief in what’s possible.
  5. Engages Your Subconscious Mind
Regularly seeing your goals trains your subconscious to recognize them as important, helping you align your thoughts and actions with your desires.
  6. Strengthens Commitment
The effort of designing a vision board deepens your commitment to your goals and having a board reinforces accountability.
  7. Encourages Creativity
Designing a vision board is a fun, creative process that allows you to explore possibilities and envision your ideal life in exciting new ways.
  8. Tracks Your Progress
As you accomplish the goals on your board and move them to the “Achieved” board, you have a visual tracker of your achievements.
  9. Promotes Positive Thinking
Surrounding yourself with uplifting visuals and affirmations fosters a positive mindset, helping you overcome challenges with resilience.
  10. Acts as a Stress Reliever
Spending time with your vision board can be a calming, stress-reducing practice that shifts your focus to what inspires you most.
